Larsen sheet piling: classification, characteristics and application The Larsen tongue and groove is a metal product in the form of a groove, which is characterized by rounded edges and Larsen-type locks at the ends. The profiles, thanks to tongue-and-groove locks, adhere to each other and form a solid barrier to strengthen unstable walls.
They use the Larsen sheet pile in many industrial areas, ranging from strengthening the banks of reservoirs of different areas and depths, ending with fencing the walls of construction trenches and pits. In addition, this metal profile is relevant if it is necessary to protect the slopes of excavations from collapse, flooding of pits and to prevent soil movement between the working area and the surrounding area, for example, at a construction site or a mining site.
A metal profile with Larsen type locks is classified, based on the type of lock, section and manufacturer.
Depending on the type of lock, this metal profile can be produced in the following models: - Larsen tongue and groove with U-shaped lock (trough-shaped tongue and groove) - AU, PU, GU models differing in the number of sections. The AU sheet pile is wide and lightweight, the PU models have reinforced shoulders, and the GU models are a lightweight version of the trough profile;
- Larsen tongue and groove with Z-shaped lock - AZ models are characterized by a larger width, which reduces the total number of locks, but at the same time increases the area of the fence. Such models have a high moment of inertia with reduced deflection, increased bearing capacity, an optimal ratio of the total weight of the product and the moment of resistance;
- Larsen sheet piling with S-shaped lock (flat sheet piles) - AS models are designed for the organization of closed metal structures in the form of a cylinder. This is important for carrying out work when it is impossible to organize anchoring.
You can find the following profile models with Larsen locks: - Larsen sheet piling HSP - a metal product from a manufacturer from Germany. It is characterized by high strength indicators and increased bearing capacity. Equipped with an improved version of the lock, due to which an even higher level of tightness of the profile wall is achieved. The Larsen sheet pile HSP is especially in demand in the organization of sewer tunnels, as well as for the construction of waste workers in the chemical and nuclear industries. This series of sheet piles has 40 models, differing in strength indicators;
- the Larsen sheet piling of the VL series is a profile of the L series of a manufacturer from the Czech Republic. The Larsen sheet pile of the L series is distinguished by thinner walls. It is made by hot-rolled method from unalloyed steels and is characterized by high strength and wear resistance. This series of sheet piles has more than 15 models;
- Larsen sheet piling LP series - the most budgetary series of trough-shaped profile. Recommended for use in any work up to a depth of 6 m. It is characterized by a sufficient moment of resistance for use on coastlines, pits and trenches. It is a good alternative to heavy dowel piles on sites where the dowel itself remains in the ground.
In cross-sectional shape, the Larsen sheet pile can be: - Z-shaped Larsen tongue at an angle of 90 ° or 63 °;
- trough-shaped Larsen sheet piling;
- flat sheet pile Larsen;
- I-beam Larsen sheet pile;
- Larsen tubular sheet piling;
- combined Larsen sheet pile (trough-shaped and I-beam complex).
The Larsen sheet pile is made of high-strength steels S430GP / 1.0523, S390GP / 1.0522, S355J0C / 1.0554, S355GP / 1.0083, S320GP / 1.0046, S270GP, S235JR, S355JO, etc.
